Ashlee and Jordan came to visit us Memorial Day weekend.  We had a great time.  Friday night we had s'mores and then camped outside.  In the morning we had delicious dutch oven french toast.  On Monday we went to Liberty Park

I guess these girls didn't get enough sleep!

Violin

Brittany, 7th grade, decided to take orchestra this year.  She enrolled in a beginning orchestra and signed up to play the violin.  She learned quickly and kept improving.  She really enjoys it and we all love to hear her play.  Emily and Amber both enjoy playing along on the piano while she plays the violin.  We all love to listen to them.  Next year she will be in intermediate orchestra.

Cupcakes!

Amber and Emily had so much fun visiting Carlo's Bake Shop in New Jersey when they went to New York City with the drill team.  They were inspired  to try to copy his Peanut Butter cupcake.
They invited Jaylee and Clancy over to bake with them.

Emily's frosting started sliding off the cupcake.  I love the look on her
face.  She was able stop the  frosting before it landed on Amber
!

Time for the taste test!  Yum!

Quidditch

Yesterday I saw Tyler "playing Quidditch".  He was pretending his broom was bewitched just like what happened to Harry Potter in the first book.  He ended up running into the house while his broom was "bewitched" and landed on the tile floor. His teacher was just finishing up reading the book and he was enjoying acting it out.

He managed to get back onto the broom only to be knocked off again!

Book reports

Tyler is in Miss Nuttall's 3rd grade class.  She has them do a book report every month.  They have to have a project and do a verbal report on the book.  Here are some of Tyler's projects:
"Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" - realistic fiction- September

"Cam Jansen and the Snowy Day Mystery" - Mystery- October
The class and the teacher all really loved this project.

"Tonight on the Titanic" - Historical Fiction- November

"LeBron James" -biography- March

I was trying to get him to smile for the picture, but
he told me that LeBron doesn't smile in pictures!

"Night of the Ninjas" - free choice - May

Other reports he has done include:
December - Cultures - "Baseball Saved Us" - He made a cake that was a baseball diamond
January - Classic - "George's Marvelous Medicine" - He made a "medicine" potion
February - Fantasy- "Secrets of Droon" - He made a word search with words from the book
April - Non-Fiction- "The Solar System" - He colored a diagram of the Solar System

Amber's graduation and birthday

Happy 22nd birthday and graduation day to our beautiful, sweet
Amber Michelle

On Thursday, April 19, the whole family went to lunch at Tera Mia.  Then Amber, Mike, Jordan, Ashlee, and I went to Amber's Commencement and Emily took Tyler and Brittany home to continue the baking and setting up for a surprise birthday and graduation party that we had planned for Amber.

The party was a huge success.  We had pulled pork made by Jordan, rolls, salads, and desserts.  A lot of our extended family was able to make it and a few close friends.

On Friday, we went to her Convocation

Jordan Cohort graduates

Amber with her friend, Chelsea Campbell

The graduation ceremony was much longer than we thought.  Amber and Kimmie shared a cap and gown.  Amber's walking time was 8:00 and Kimmie's was at 11:00.  Right after Amber's name was called she came out, we took a quick picture and then I ran the cap and gown to Kimmie from the Smith Fieldhouse to the Wilkinson Center and got it to her just in time!  We were a little sad that Amber had to leave her graduation right after her name was called and that she didn't get to wear the gown for her pictures after, but at least we got a few.

Congratulations Amber.  We love you and are proud of you!
